The Texas Veterans Hall of Fame is pleased to announce their 4th of July 2024 Celebration will include THE Army Band of the Southwest. The event will have two events. The first is a short Brass Quintet at 2PM and then a full concert that evening. No Tickets are required for the afternoon performance, but tickets are required for the evening performance.

395th Army Band

As with many of the nation’s Army Bands, the 395th Army Band traces its origins to World War II. It was organized in August of 1943 and in December of that year assigned as the band of the 95th Infantry Division “The Iron Men of Metz.” After service in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe during the war, the band returned home and was inactivated in 1945.

The 95th Division (and the band) were re-activated in 1949 as an Army Reserve command in Oklahoma City, which has been our home ever since. As a result of the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005, the band was relieved of its assignment to the 95th Division, redesignated as the 395th Army Band “The Army Band of the Southwest”, and attached to the 63rd Readiness Division, which is headquartered in the bay area of California.

The 395th, along with its sister bands the 300th Army Band in Los Angeles and the 191st Army Band in San Francisco, now serves a 7-state area that encompasses Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Arkansas, and California.

Our soldier-musicians travel from multiple locations across the United States for our monthly weekend training and two-week summer concert tour; coming from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Colorado, New Jersey, Louisiana, and Delaware. In addition to a concert band and traditional military ceremonial marching band, the 395th Army Band includes a rock band, , a woodwind quintet, a big band, a jazz combo, a New-Orleans style brass band, a flute quintet, and a percussion ensemble
