Bio:
Green enlisted in the army in Columbus, Ohio, in 1846 and was discharged two years later. He reenlisted in San Antonio, Texas in 1852, received a commission in 1855, and appears to have served continuously until his retirement in November 1889. History accredited his service and Medal of Honor to Ohio but it may actually belong to Texas honoring him for his actions for the Indian Wars.
