Bio:

James Jackson Spivey was born October 14, 1814 in Georgia.
He married Mary Susan Williamson on December 26, 1844 in Tallapoosa, Alabama. They were in Alabama on the 1850 Federal Census and in Louisiana on the 1860 Federal Census.
Enrolled in Confederate States Army on November 1, 1862 in Louisiana and served as a Pvt. In Co. D, 28th Regiment, LA
James Jackson Spivey was in Shelby County, TX on 1870 Census. A historical marker for the town of Spivey credits Mr. Spivey with establishing the community of Spivey including the post office, the Friendship Baptist Church and the Spivey cemetery where he is buried.
In 1900 the family gathered for a large family reunion, with the patriarchs seated in the middle.

He lived in Texas from about 1870 - 1905 when he died at age 91 on October 19, 1905 in Paxton, Shelby County, Texas.
