Bio:
Somewhat unique in that from 1864-5, Cole was in the US Army during Indian Campaigns in Texas and he was in the same unit but in the CSA during the Civil War. He donated the first land for the cemetery and was the first man buried in it. Only a small child was buried before him. His wife outlived him by 20 years and was killed in the tornado that destroyed the town of Bellevue in 1906. He was a blacksmith and owned a saloon in town. He was also a cattle rancher. He helped build up the town and was instrumental in getting the railroad to come through Bellevue. The lake west of town was created by the railroad as a water stop for the steam engines.
