Bio:

Dallas Griner was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in the Cherokee Nation (Indian Territory). He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’5”. He was 20 when he first enlisted.

He completed 8 enlistments, serving from September 9, 1872 to May 25, 1888. He was stationed at Fort Clark and Fort McKavett. He served under Lt. Land, Lt. Cranston, Lt. Kirkman, Lt. Bullis, Lt. Hall, and Lt. Dickman.

During his fifth enlistment (January 25, 1875 to July 28, 875), Dallas Griner deserted. This desertion was excused on completion of enlistment. Griner returned to duty at Fort Clark on March 7, 1876.

On September 6, 1876, along with Issac Payne, Dallas Griner was indicted by a Kinney County grand jury for the theft of a prized gelding that belonged to Deputy Sheriff Clarion Windus.
