Bio:

Charles (Cabo) July was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’6”. He was 18 when he first enlisted.

He completed 6 enlistments, serving from June 5, 1875 to November 5, 1879. He served under Lt. Bullis, Lt. Markley, and Lt. Leggett. He was stationed at Ft Clark, Cp Pecos, and Cp Painted.

Charles July was the son of Jim July. Cpt. S.B.M. Young reported that, on November 5, 1879 at Camp Pecos (Pecos River Crossing), Charles July accidentally shot and killed himself. His body was sent to Fort Clark. He was buried at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery.
