Bio:

John F. (Joe) Remo was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’11”. He was 24 when he first enlisted.

He completed 25 enlistments, serving from October 23, 1875 to July 1, 1911. He served under Lt. Cranton, Lt. Bullis, Lt. Cunningham, Lt. Hewitt, Lt. Hall, Lt. Dickerson, Lt. Duprees, Lt. Mackray, Lt. Lowe, Lt. Evans, Lt. Shanks, Lt. Vestal, Lt. Fenton, Lt. Nolan, and Lt. Hayden. He was stationed at Ft. Clark, Beaver Lake, Cp. Painted, Cp. Myers, Cp. Neville, Cp. Presidio, Ft. Ringold, Cp. Rameriz, Cp. Palvo, and Cp. San Pedro.

Joe Remo died on March 10, 1930. He was buried at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery.
