Bio:

Joseph (Joe) Thompson was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Alabama. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’8”. He was 23 when he first enlisted.

He completed twelve enlistments, serving from August 2, 1872 to April 28, 1894. He served under Cpt. Beyer, Lt. Bullis, Lt. Cranston, Lt. Markley, Lt. Hewitt, Lt. Fenton, and Lt. Jones. He was stationed at Ft. Duncan, Ft. Clark, Cp. Comanche, Cp. Supply, Cp. Neville, and Ft. Ringold.

Note: Joseph Thompson was a Black Cherokee who married a Seminole woman. He died on May 17, 1915 and was buried at the Seminole Cemetery.
