Born 1836 in Pennsylvania
Died 1900 in Dallas (aged 64)
Fisher is a veteran of the Civil War and served with the Confederate's 45th Virginia Infantry Regiment. In 1863 at the second battle of Winchester (in Virginia) he was captured by Union forces and spent nine months in a Delaware prison. One of 16 children, Fisher grew up in Pennsylvania and learned to be a cabinet maker and carpenter, which was his trade until the Civil War. After the war, he worked on the Virginia and Tennessee railroad repairing bridges and building section houses until he moved to Texas in 1867. After a year in Houston, Fisher moved to Dallas, purchased 70 acres of the old Coombs homestead, and became a grocer. In 1869 he married Mary Ann Coombs, who is also buried here.
