Graveside services for Wendell "Shotgun" Jordan, 94, of Big Spring and formerly of Lamesa, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lamesa Memorial Park with Walter McCall officiating.

Services were under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Mr. Jordan died on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Lamun Lusk Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring.

He was born on April 29, 1915 in Springfield, Ark. to Sandlin Jackson and Ruby Bradley Jordan.

He was an Army veteran and an independent truck driver. While serving his country he was awarded the Victory Medal in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Philippine Liberation and was a qualified Rifle Sharpshooter.

Survivors include his children, Warren Jordan of Norman, Okla. and Michael L. Jordan of Midland; a sister, Mary Fritz of Houston; and a grandson.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and three brothers.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
