ORIGINS
Arlon Daniel Wall Jr was born on March 21, 1942. According to our records Texas was his home or enlistment state and Dallas County included within the archival record. We have Irving listed as the city.
SERVICE
He had enlisted in the Air Force. Entered via Regular Military. Served during the Vietnam War. He began his tour on September 27, 1966. He had the rank of Airman First Class. Service number was 18687410. Served with 7th Air Force, 1964th Comm Group, 1972nd Comm Squadron.
CASUALTY
Wall experienced a traumatic event which resulted in loss of life on September 9, 1967. Recorded circumstances attributed to: "Died through hostile action, artillery rocket mortar". Incident location: South Vietnam, Quang Nam province.
DETAILS
Graduated Carrollton High School in 1959, Carrollton, Texas. Entered USMC 1960. After a break in service, he went on active duty with the USAF in 1965. A1C Arlon Daniel Wall Jr. arrived at DaNang AB, Republic of South Vietnam on September 27, 1966. Assigned to the 1972 Communications Squadron. The 27 year old Airman had been in the Air Force 4 years. Just five minutes after Midnight in the early morning Hours of September 9, 1967 Airman Wall and SSgt. Marl W. McCutchen also of the 1972 Comm. Sqdrn were killed by one of three VietCong Stand Off Rockets launched at DaNang that morning. Ten others were wounded in the attack. A1C Wall had just 17 days left in Country. He was posthumously promoted to A1C E-4.
