Bio:

Brady Jewell was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Louisiana. He had black eyes, black hair, and a copper complexion. He stood 5’8”. He first enlisted when he was 32. As a private, he completed two enlistments, serving from March 5, 1877 to August 8, 1881.

As a private, he completed 2 enlistments, serving from March 5, 1877 to August 8, 1882. He served under Lt, Bullis and Lt. Jones. He was stationed at Ft. Clark and Cp. Myers.

Brady Jewell was formerly a part of the 10th Cavalry. He was said to not have been Seminole or Negro. Instead, he was believed to have been a member of another Native American tribe.Special Note: He was originally enlisted in the 10th U.S. Cavalry (aka Buffalo Soldiers) but was said to have been neither Seminole nor Negro, but an “Indian with long hair, probably Cherokee.”
