Bio:
Luce (Louis) Cassas was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’5”.
As a private, he completed six enlistments, serving from May 9, 1880 to February 28, 1889. He was stationed in Fort Clark and Cp. Neville and served under Lt. Bullis, Lt. Jones, Lt. Gerard, Lt. Hewitt, and Lt. Dickman.
Interestingly, in the 1880 census, Luce Cassas was listed as a 35-year-old, white male Scout.
