Private Dan Johnson Sr. was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Florida. He was 45 when he first enlisted.
He completed 2 enlistments, serving from December 1, 1872 to April 1, 1874. He served under Cpt. Beyer and Lt. Parker. He was stationed at Fort Duncan and Fort Clark.
It is believed that Dan Johnson Sr had formerly been enslaved by a Seminole in Florida.
