Bio:
John July was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’6”. He first enlisted at age 17.
He completed 27 enlistments, serving from
June 5, 1875 to March 3, 1900. He served under Lt. Markley, Lt. Dodd, Lt. Bullis, Lt. Jones, Lt. French, Lt. Cunningham, Lt. Hewitt,, Lt. Hall, Lt. Dickman, Lt. Turner, Lt. Lowe, Lt. Evans, Lt. Shanks, Lt. Langhorn, and Lt. Vestal. He was stationed at Ft. Duncan, Ft. Clark, Cp Howard, Cp Myers, Cp Neville, Cp Palvo, Cp Presidio, Ft. Ringold, and Cp San Pedro.
John July passed away on March 3, 1900 at Ft Ringold. The cause was cirrhosis of the liver.
