Bio:

Willis Morton was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Alabama. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’4”. He first enlisted when he was 30 years old.

He served from November 14, 1876 to May 29, 1878. He served under Lt. Bullis. He was stationed at Fort Clark and Cp. Painted Cave.

William Morton May have been enslaved or adopted the name of army doctor Samuel Morton, who accompanied the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears to Arkansas reservation and later stayed in the Cherokee Nation and studied the tribe.
