Bio:
David Payne was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’9”. He was ten when he first enlisted.
He completed 4 enlistments, serving from February 1, 1876 to April 24, 1879. He served under Lt. Markley and Lt. Bullis. He was stationed at Cp. Pecks and Ft. Clark. He was buried at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery in 1879.
