Bio:

Joseph Phillips was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black hair, black eyes, and a black complexion. He stood 5’7”.

He completed five enlistments, serving from October 11, 1893 to May 10, 1909. He served under Lt. Evans, Lt. Fenton, Lt. Fonda, Lt. Parker, and Lt. Farmer.

Joseph Phillips died on August 13, 1936. He was buried at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery.
