Bio:

William Shields was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Mexico. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’6”. He was 21 when he first enlisted.

He completed sixteen enlistments, serving from January 3, 1887 to September 28, 1908. He served under Lt. Hall, Lt. Dickman, Lt. Turner, Lt. Lowe, Lt. Evans, Lt. Ryan, Lt. Vestal, Lt. Hays, Lt. Wade, Lt. Fonda, Lt. Spilar, and Cpt. Babcock. He was stationed at Ft. Clark, Cp. Neville, Cp. Palvo, Ft. Ringold, Cp. San Pedro, and Cp. Eagle Pass.

He was discharged due to a disability on September 28, 1908.
