Bio:

William Wilson was a Seminole Negro Indian Scout who was born in Louisiana. He had black eyes, black hair, and a black complexion. He stood 5’5”. He first enlisted when he was 21 years old.

He completed 16 enlistments, serving from September 9, 1872 to January 8, 1887. He served under Lt. Land, Lt. Cranston, Lt. Kirkman, Lt. Parker, Lt. Bullis, Lt. French, Lt. Cunningham, Lt. Hewitt, and Lt. Hall. He was at Fort Clark, Cp. Pecos, Cp. Crow, Cp. Myers.

Note: In the 1880 census, William Wilson was listed as being 40 years old and born in Ohio. His parents were born in Ohio. His wife Elvira, 25, was born in Mexico. Their children’s name were Lizzie, Norris, William, Martha, Cepetha, Kaziah, and Jake. (Please note that there are discrepancies between William Wilson’s age and birth place.)
