Bio:
Lance Corporal Travis Thornton Babine, United States Marine Corps joined his fellow Marines guarding the streets of Heaven on August 6th, 2009. He was killed in action in Farah Province, Afghanistan while assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines from Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Travis was twenty years old. He was born June 6th, 1989 at Ft. Belvoir, VA and lived in various locations in the United States and Korea, before his family settled in San Antonio in 1996. Travis is survived by his mother, Alice A. Babine (USA, Ret), his father, William E. Badger (USA, Ret), and his step-mother, Dorothy M. Badger, all of San Antonio. Also surviving are his sisters Desiree, Marshall, and Demetria Badger. He was preceded in death by his brother, William David Badger III. Travis was a 2007 honor graduate of Castle Hills First Baptist School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps immediately after graduating from high school. Travis was a kind, gentle, and generous young man. He felt called to military service at an early age. When asked why he joined the Marine Corps as a rifleman in time of war, he quoted Isaiah 6:8, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here I am. Send me!'" He touched many lives at school, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, in the gaming community, and in the Marine Corps. He is absent from us but present with the Lord, and the positive impact he made on many other people will live on.
