Bio:

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Scott Hamilton Burgess, 32, of Franklin, Texas passed away serving his country on Monday, April 4, 2011 in Faryab Province, Afghanistan.

Services are set for 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at First Baptist Church in Franklin, Texas. Burial will follow in Wheelock Cemetery. A Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

He was born on October 24, 1978 in Hampton, Virginia to Sam and Deb Burgess. He moved to Franklin with his family at a very young age and attended and received his education in Franklin schools. He married Jennifer Juhl on November 6, 1999 in Franklin, Texas.

He entered into the United States Army in 2002 and continued to serve his country in the Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraq Freedom Wars until his unexpected death.

He will not only be remembered as a great son, husband, father, and a to many; a hero, but also as a great leader and teacher to the many that trained under him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Burgess and Jack Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Burgess of Franklin; children, Haley and Amy Burgess, both of Franklin; parents, Sam and Deb Burgess of Mabank; grandmothers, Claire Burgess of Anderson, S.C. and Ruby Hamilton McMoran of Keller, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Kristy and Michael Green of Bremond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Mellonie Burgess of Gause, Texas, Brad and Lynn Burgess of Franklin, Tony and Sabrina Burgess of Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother-in-law, Marsha Juhl of Franklin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily and Jeffery Tucker of Franklin; father-in-law, Chris Juhl and wife, Jennifer, of Hearne; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A benefit account has been set up for Scott's daughters, Haley and Amy Burgess at First Star Bank P.O. Box 937 Franklin, Texas 77856.
