FC Benjamen Glen Chisholm 10/3/1985 ~ 8/17/2010 United States Army PFC Benjamen Glen Chisholm, 24, of Fort Campbell, KY, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, from wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device caused a military vehicle roll-over in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericksburg with Branch President Oak Smith presiding. Other funeral participants included Glenn Chisholm, Lynn Chisholm, Annie Reynolds, Tami Rose, Julian Frolov and Alexis Chisholm-Humphreys. Also, Amber Chisholm, Jude Tanner, Jamie Tanner, Emily Clarkson (on behalf of Annie Reynolds), Karyl Chase, Skip Doerr, Alyssa Breuel, Tammy Bruel, James David Breuel, Linda Reynolds and James Breuel. Graveside services and interment with full military honors followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville. Chisholm's brother, James 'Jay' Breuel, recited the Infantryman's Creede, and Chisholm's mother, Linda Reynolds, read a message to Chisholm's siblings in his honor. The procession from the church to the cemetery was led by Trooper Coy Morales and fellow troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Gillespie County and Kerr County law enforcement, and members of the Patriot Guard and Freedom Riders. Visitation was held Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home. Chisholm was born Oct. 3, 1985, in Silver Spring, MD, the son of Glenn Austin Chisholm and Linda Reynolds Chisholm. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He has been posthumously awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. His wife, SP4 Amber Ferguson Chisholm, of Willow Springs, MO, and a medic with the U.S. Army's 1st Special Troops Battalion, was stationed about 80 miles away from her husband in Afghanistan at the time of his death. The couple had been married only since March 15, 2010, in Fort Campbell, KY, two months prior to deploying. Amber has just recently learned of her pregnancy and the family thinks Ben just "had to have the last laugh." In addition to his wife, Chisholm is survived by his mother, Linda Reynolds and Skip Doerr of Fredericksburg; father, Glenn and Lynn Chisholm of Oregon; his step-father, James David Breuel of Lewisville; grandparents, Annie A. Reynolds of West Jordan, UT and Fern Hiatt of Oregon; and his father- and mother-in-law, Oscar and Davina Ferguson of Willow Springs, MO. He is also survived by seven sisters and three brothers: Alyssa Breuel of Lewisville, Tammy Breuel of Fredericksburg, Megan Doerr of Fredericksburg, Tami Rose of Oregon, Tiffany Merrill of Oregon, Stacy Humphreys of Oregon, Alexis Chisholm of Oregon, Jay Breuel of Fredericksburg, Scott Doerr of Fredericksburg, and Tracy Humphreys of Oregon; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
