"Was wounded in the head at Shiloh; in the ankle at Murfreesboro; in the eye at Missionary Ridge, in the belt buckle at Chickamauga; in the knee at Resaca; in the right leg at Atlanta; in the left arm by sword at Franklin; head and shoulders with gun butt; pinched with bayonet etc......I never missed a march, skirmish, battle or any other movement my regiment was in. Was never in the hospital, except for emergency operations or treatment."
