Biography: Lena graduated from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She worked in retail for K-Mart Corporation and then she enlisted in the United States Air Force where she was an Information Manager, Professional Military Instructor, and Deputy Inspector General she also deployed to Turkey for Operation Provide Comfort, Desert Shield/Desert Storm. While in the Air Force she earned dual master’s degrees from Oklahoma University in Adult Education and Human Relations. When Lena was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force, she joined the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a Training Specialist and trained thousands to assist disaster survivors during Hurricanes Isabel (2003), Katrina/Rita/Wilma (2005) Sandy (2012), Irma (2017), Michael (2018), and Ida (2021) to name a few. While in FEMA, she earned a Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University in Family Studies. Lena is now the President and Co-Founder of LJ2, Inc. Family Education and Professional Development where she helps improve the quality of family relationships, trains professional development skills and offers access to a presentation platform for family and professional development topics and events. Lena is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame and serves as the Director of Learning Management Systems. Lena has a son Mitchell Jackson, Jr., and daughter Michele Wylie.
