Bio:

First female war correspondent in American history (1847). Reported from behind enemy line during the Mexican-American War. Helped negotiate the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo (1848). Helped shape US domestic and foreign policy from the mid-18402 through the 1870s. Died at sea at the age of 71.
