Bio:
Born in Utah and grew up in Cameron, Texas. Posthumously awarded the Silver Star and the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor for his actions during battle. Second Lieutenant Darryn Andrews heroically sacrificed himself to save the lives of six of his comrades. While on patrol during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, Andrews' unit hit an improvised explosive device. Andrews jumped out of the safety of his vehicle to assist those in need. Taliban fighters then fired a rocket-propelled grenade. Andrews tackled three of his fellow soldiers to protect them from the blast. Andrews died of wounds incurred by his selfless act of bravery.
